After the successful release of Google Pixel smartphones, the tech giant has confirmed that they will be launching two of their new flagship smartwatches which has been rumored back then. The upcoming Google smartwatches are going to be released in first quarter of next year.

Product manager of Android Wear at Google, Jeff Chang told The Verge that the new watches are the flagship for the Android Wear 2.0 devices and the first to launch in the new platform. The launch will be part of the efforts of Google to convince consumers that smartwatches are still in demand.

However, the new smartwatches will not be branded with Google or Pixel, it will be branded according to the company that will be manufacturing the devices. Jeff Chang, did not reveal which manufacturer the company has collaborated with but he gave a clue that they have produced Android Wear devices before for the hardware design and software integration.

After the launch of the new Google smartwatches, other current Android Wear watches will get an upgrade to Android Wear 2.0. Where the new platform will have numerous new features which includes standalone apps that does not need a phone to work, support for the Android Pay and will also support voice controlled Assistant.
