Embracing the yuletide season, Niantic has introduced a Christmas update to its popular mobile game, Pokemon Go. Niantic has also announced in its website that the game will further feature several events and updates before the end of 2016.

To start the Pokemon Go Christmas update, Niantic has introduced a bunch of new Pokemons into the game. Though the recent update did not add into the game some of the legendary Pokemons in every Pokemon Go player's wish list such as Mewtwo, Zapdos, Moltres and Articuno, the update did not fail to put smile on Pokemon Go players as the update came with the addition of cute baby Pokemons. However, some Pokemon Go community threads have already claimed that the recent update is a big disappointment.

The baby Pokemons introduced in the game are not found in the wild and can only hatch from eggs. This feature may be Niantic's way to give Pokemon Go fans a bit of a challenge in trying to collect the baby Pokemons to complete their Pokedex.

Another Christmas time themed update is the addition of the Christmas Pikachu. The already cute Pikachu is made a lot more adorable as the yellow pocket monster is made to wear a Santa hat. The Christmas Pikachu may only be caught up until December 29.

Since Niantic has hosted holiday events with the previous two holidays (Halloween and Thanksgiving) as its theme, Pokemon Go players are already awaiting what the game developer will come up with for its Christmas event.

Niantic also announced that players can expect double xp offers for trainers this coming year. This additional xp boost is seen as Niantic's way to keep Pokemon Go players' interest for the game amidst speculations that the once rabid fan base of the mobile game is already slowly dwindling.
