Looks like Battlefield 1 players are in for a treat as the Giant's Shadow arena will now be accessible to everyone. It was exclusively available for players with the game's season pass when it arrived earlier this month.

Battlefield 1's servers went offline for about 60 minutes on Tuesday, Dec. 20 in all platforms, citing the maintenance performed by DICE. The game developer also made Giant's Shadow available for everyone in the midst of the said maintenance. Meanwhile, North American Community Manager for the Battlefield franchise, Braddock512, notified players in a blog post on Battlefield Forum that its multiplayer mode would be offline during the maintenance.

Giant's Shadow is set in the fall of 1918 and puts players into the Battle of the Selle. Its name was derived from a colossal airship that banged into an open field and is now casting a shadow over the battlefield. Premium subscribers of Battlefield are eligible to receive a two-week headstart on all Battlefield 1 expansion. In other words, they can start playing Giant's Shadow earlier this month, Dec. 6, to be precise.

Meanwhile, EA Dice is leaving no stone unturned to publicize their first major expansion for Battlefield 1, which is not likely to release before March 2017.

The game developer came under fire from avid gamers and critics alike for their decision to omit the French army in the game that centered on the First World War. Bearing that in mind, DICE has announced that the first radical expansion for the game, dubbed as They Shall Not Pass, will break the trend. In their bid to recreate the Battle of Verdun, the army will take to the field of battle, accompanied by their compeers donning red trousers.

In line with this, DICE has already taken the wraps off the concept art for the French DLC pack for the hit first-person shooter video game. The expansion encompasses new maps, an array of weapons, and features Gandalf the Grey as the protagonist, according to Metro.

In a bid to not focus on trench warfare, Battlefield 1 ended up going underrepresented; however, the new map warrants an exceptionally fiendish landscape of mud and fiery forest.
