Even before the March 2017 Nintendo Switch release date, numerous gaming experts are already quick to judge as to the pros and cons of the newest gaming console from Nintendo.
The main selling point of the Nintendo Switch is its hybrid nature. In buying the Switch, gamers will be able to have the experience of having a game console and a handheld mobile gaming device in one.
However, pundits are already saying that the hybrid nature of the Nintendo Switch is only overhyped and is no longer that relevant especially when some of the top smartphones in the market today already have better power than what the Nintendo Switch is speculated to pack. The recent release of Super Mario Run in IOS only bolsters this point.
The Nintendo Switch is speculated to have lesser specs compared to the game consoles in the Market today, the XBOX and Sony's PlayStation. Placed under the hood of the Nintendo Switch is a Maxwell GPU. The use of Maxwell GPU entails that the Nintendo Switch specs will not even come close to the current gaming benchmark set by the XBOX and PS4.
The recent release of PS4 Pro did not help the case of Nintendo Switch. The better graphics offered by PS4 Pro is the direct opposite that the Switch is offering its would-be gamers.
The current specs of the Switch, as it currently stands, only gives it a power comparable to the Nintendo Wii. With that rather low horsepower, the Switch will not be able to support much of the top video games unless game developers come up with versions that are compatible with the Nintendo Switch.
Although the fact that recent popular games will not be compatible with Switch may entail that game developers may develop original games that may only be played with the Nintendo game console, the unimpressive Maxwell GPU will drastically limit what the game developers can come up with.
