Forget Verizon Wireless or AT&T, Apple iPhone is coming to Leap's Cricket Wireless network on prepaid terms. Cricket is all set to become the first prepaid U.S. carrier to offer iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S on June 22.

The company announced in a press release on Thursday that it will start rolling out Apple iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 from June 22 on off-contract prepaid terms. Leap Wireless sells prepaid services under the brand name of Cricket Wireless, which is a subsidiary of the former. The iPhone will be sold at a $55 no-contract plan offering unlimited calling, text and data. Despite being labeled as unlimited plan, it is not truly an unlimited data plan. After a user consumes 2.3GB of data in a month, the internet speeds will eventually slow down.

The plans are cheaper as compared to what major U.S. carriers offer, but users will have to pay a hefty upfront fee. Cricket will offer the 16GB model of iPhone 4S for $499, while 8GB model of iPhone 4 is priced at $399. However, the amount is still lower than the prices charged for unlocked iPhone. The devices will be made available in both white and black variants.

"Our customers want the best products available and we are excited to bring iPhone to our pre-paid consumers with an industry leading $55 per-month service plan," said Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer of Leap Wireless International. "Launching iPhone is a major milestone for us and we are proud to offer iPhone customers attractive nationwide coverage, a robust 3G data network and a value-packed, no-contract plan."

Leap Wireless is investing heavily in order to make the move. Reportedly, the company has signed a deal with Apple to buy iGadgets worth $900 million in upcoming three years, beginning from the date, the company starts selling iPhone.

Apple iPhone 3GS is reportedly also seeking a new life in prepaid market. Several prepaid carriers will soon begin offering the device for between $200 to $250 on no-contract terms.
