"The Last Guardian" has drawn both positive and negative reviews since it was launched, but the game recently got a seal of approval from other highly respected game creators.
Posting on his Twitter account, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann heaped praises on Fumito Ueda's latest creation, calling it a masterpiece.
The "Uncharted" director gushed about its beautiful graphics, and even said that it would be perfect to have a photo mode for the game.
The director also thanked Ueda and the rest of Team ICO for making "The Last Guardian" such a beautiful game, and urged them to make more. Druckmann then cheekily asked Ueda not to make him "wait ten years for the next one."
Prior to "The Last Guardian"'s release, Druckmann has already expressed his admiration for Ueda's works.
"Years after first playing it, the emotional impact of Ico tugging at Yorda's arm still resonates with me," the director of "The Last of Us" said. "It is one of many visionary choices that make Ico a classic and a master class in elegant storytelling and design."
A fellow Naughty Dog, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" writer Josh Scherr, echoed Druckmann's sentiments about "The Last Guardian."
"And I've said it before & I'll say it again: Trico is an incredible creation, generating empathy with sound & body language alone," Scherr said on his own Twitter account.
The "Uncharted" writer also acknowledged the poor reviews of the game that mostly criticized its below average performance on the Playstation 4.
"I can understand why some reviewers didn't fully buy in to 'The Last Guardian'. The game demands patience, both for its tech issues and deliberate pace," Scherr said. "but between training a puppy earlier this year and having a 5 year old, Trico's response time felt totally reasonable."
Scherr is currently working on "Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy," a standalone title for the "Uncharted" franchise featuring the ladies of "Uncharted," Chloe Frazer from "Uncharted 2" and Nadine Ross from "Uncharted 4."
