Capcom's first entry in the crossover beat 'em franchise was "Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes," which came out in the arcades more than a decade ago. It was a gem back then and years later the sequel, "Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes" is also still immensely popular and is still being played in tournaments around the globe.

It's simplicity, roster of characters and combo system made it popular among fighting game enthusiasts and Marvel fans alike. With over 56 playable characters, what's not to like? Even those not familiar with Capcom games will surely love this crossover fighting game series.

In 2011, a sequel came out for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PS Vita. Soon, Marvel Capcom Infinite will be released this 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One and Windows platforms.

According to an article at Polygon, "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" will be based on Marvel's current cinematic universe. It will also feature 2v2 battles, unlike previous installments. The said game will use the same engine in the previous entries in the franchise.
