Farming life simulation-slash-RPG "Stardew Valley" will be making its way to consoles this week.
As confirmed on the "Stardew Valley" website in November by Eric Barone, the sole member of indie developer studio Concerned Ape, the Playstation 4 version of the game will launch on Dec. 13 in North America Dec. 14 in Europe, while the Xbox One version will be launched on Dec. 14 globally.
Barone has also confirmed that unfortunately, he will no longer be working on the Wii U port for "Stardew Valley," and has now jumped to Nintendo's upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch.
"Looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape, we made the difficult choice to shift our development efforts to creating a version for Nintendo Switch," Barone said. "I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch's unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for 'Stardew Valley'."
Barone also said on the Playstation Blog how important it is for him to create a "great first impression" while making "Stardew Valley."
"As a one-man team, I felt personally responsible for every aspect of the game, so I spent a lot of time fussing over everything, as well as releasing numerous patches and content updates after the initial launch," Barone explained. "I hope that my attention to detail shines through in the final product."
"Stardew Valley" was one of the best-selling games on Steam in the first two months after its release, selling 400,000 copies across Steam and GOG.com in two weeks, Polygon reported. The game has since sold over 1 million copies by April, according to MCV.
Surprisingly, a lot of people who pirated the game eventually ended up buying it on Steam, according to Kotaku, a rare occurrence especially for indie games such as "Stardew Valley."
"Stardew Valley" is currently available on Steam, GOG, and Humble.
