"Grand Theft Auto V" had an update last month featuring a new game mode called Deadline. This game mode is heavily inspired by Tron movies, featuring a bike-racing-like mode that gives players a lot of fun and competitive gameplay.

The objective of the Deadline mode, is to eliminate other players by having them crash on your trail. Easier being said than done, it requires an amount of game time to get used to the new game mode.

Being good at Deadline proves to be a big challenge and therefore here's a guide presented by Pyrerealm gaming on this video:

Set the win condition for most number of kills

As Pyrerealm gaming had mentioned, there are two win conditions for Deadline. First is to win by having more lines compared to your competitors by the time runs out. And the second one is to win by having more kills compared to your competitors by the time runs out. According to Pyrerealm gaming, the latter is more fair and not boring as you'll be needing skills to set your competitors to run into your line trails.

Suicide if necessary

Moving on with this guide, as Pyrerealm gaming mentioned, we'll be assuming that you'll be playing the kill-based win condition. And since that's the win condition, don't be afraid to consider runnning into your own trail if necessary. This way no kill count would be awarded to any of your competitors.

Take advantage with the power ups

In this game mode, there are three power ups that can help you win. These are:

  • Boost - will give you a burst of speed in a short amount of time.

  • Zoned - will slow down the time for you and your competitors.

  • Hop - will enable you to leap an opponent's light trail.

Of all these, Pyrerealm gaming recommends Boost as it can help you go ahead of your opponent and just immediately cut them. The Hop however, is not that effective since it's almost impossible to fully leap against your opponents trail and for Zoned, it's equally ineffective as there's no real advantage since all of you will be affected.

Use your brakes strategically

In this game mode, you can use your brakes in order to make sharp turns but it is advised not to stop completely as your opponents can make work of that to their advantage. You may also want to use your brakes so as not to crash on certain obstacles as this can lead to your death.

Finally, there's a sudden death mode that activates when the time runs out and there's a tie with the score. Just take advantage of the shrinking area in order to set your opponents to cross on your trail.
