"Grand Theft Auto V" has officially sold 75 million copies worldwide, parent company Take-Two Interactive announced. The last sales figure that was publicly announced was 70 million in November 2016.

Since the last announcement of their sales, "Grand Theft Auto V" was able to sell 5 more million copies around the world. Over the past year, the game sold 15 million more. The news was released by Take-Two for the third-quarter of the company's 2017 fiscal year which will end on March 31. According to Polygon, the company's third-quarter ran from October to December 2016.

According to Take-Two, both "GTA V" and its online counterpart, "Grand Theft Auto Online" have surpassed their expectations "every quarter since its release." The Rockstar Games title was first released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. It also became available soon for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when the consoles were launched.

After three years on the shelf, "Grand Theft Auto V" still remains a best-seller in the gaming community. Infact, it was the sixth highest-selling game of 2016. Even "GTA Online" was at its all-time high last month as it had a "record number of players in December."

"GTA V" is the fifth title in the main "GTA" series. It's an open world exploration and action-adventure game that was developed by Rockstar Games. The company has assured players that there will be more downloadable content for the online game the next months.

Apart from the sales figures for "Grand Theft Auto V," Take-Two also announced the numbers for "NBA 2K17" and the "Civilization" series. "NBA 2K17" has now shipped 7 million copies as reported by GameSpot. The "Civilization" series has sold a total of 40 million copies. Overall, Take-Two was able to acquire $476.5 million in revenue, 15 percent higher than their $414.2 million sales last year.
