Rumor has it that "Marvel vs Capcom" will make its biggest comeback next year, but possible with some huge changes that will make it feel totally different from its traditional roster approach.
Polygon reported that there are tons of multiple sources saying that the high-octane fighting game "Marvel VS Capcom" will be getting its fourth installment in the series. "Marvel VS Capcom 4" is believed to be already under development and is scheduled for a release next year.
Capcom, however, made no official announcements as of yet regarding the game's progress or even its existence. Still, the company have already reached out to Polygon regarding "Marvel VS Capcom 4" joining the featured games in the upcoming PlayStation Experience this December. This is the same event where the Capcom Cup 2016 for "Street Fighter V" will be held.
However, one thing to note here is that "Marvel vs Capcom 4" will be adding more characters from the cinematic universe. This meant less or even a total absence of the X-Men characters like Wolverine and more of "The Avengers," or even "Guardians of the Galaxy." Some even expect Ant-Man and Groot.
As Polygon cited, Capcom's license with Marvel have already expired way back 2013 and the "Marvel vs Capcom" games and its downloadable content were removed from Microsoft and Sony's online stores right after 2014 kicked in.
Still, "Marvel vs Capcom 3" is a very popular game up until today and the fanbase supporting it is nowhere near waning. In fact, the game is still getting featured with the annual Evo fighting game tournaments.
"There's nothing we can say at this time," Ong told Polygon at the time. "Let's just say that we hear that a lot. We love our fans and we certainly want to please them. Beyond that we can't say anything at this time. But who knows what the future holds?"
