Many early adopters of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, who have pre-ordered the device, were expecting their new phone to arrive on May 18, but there has been a slight change of plans. On May 17, Best Buy was informing those who pre-ordered that the HTC EVO 4G LTE would in fact arrive on May 23, a few days later than the original launch date.

The May 23 date, however, is now out of the question as well. Following news that both the EVO and its One X cousin were being held up indefinitely at Customs, Best Buy again started sending notifications, this time with an indefinite launch date.

"You recently received an email that provided an incorrect release date for your pre-ordered item below. We're very sorry for this mix-up," reads the latest notification from Best Buy. "The release date has changed, but we do not know the new release date yet. Sprint has not yet announced the new release date, but we'll let you know as soon as we know it. Be assured that your pre-order is still valid. You can expect that your new device will be ready to ship or pick up on the day that it's released." The email from Best Buy was released by Phandroid.

Best Buy is still allowing customers to place a pre-order, but this time it is no longer promising a specific date when the device will become available. The International Trade Commission (ITC) has blocked HTC smartphones from being imported into the U.S. after it found HTC was infringing on an Apple patent. It is not yet certain for how long will the phones be held up at Customs.

The new HTC EVO 4G LTE is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, backed by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has a 4.7-inch display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone also comes with Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich out of the box, and supports the popular Beats Audio platform. Other features include Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, support for HD voice, a kickstand, and other exciting features.
