The sequel for the next "Grand Theft Auto" game is still something that fans are patiently awaiting, even with the total absence of update or the tiniest info. Is "GTA 6" something that wouldn't happen in a year or two or is it already cooking?
Since the official announcement of the almost mythical "Red Dead Redemption 2," "GTA 6" became even more elusive. Fans keep the flames alive by speculating as to when the sequel will be released, but up to this point, no real information from at least somebody who works at Rockstar, have surfaced.
On top of all those factors to consider why "GTA 6" is not happening yet, "GTA 5" comes up as the biggest reason. "Grand Theft Auto 5," despite having huge gaps with platform releases, still makes tons of money according to Attack of The Fanboy, and it is quite true.
Just released no more than 5 years ago, the game still has a lot going on right now, especially with the online community. Not surprisingly, up until now, the game holds a spot in the Top Ten Sales in the US and just about any other countries.
Analyst Daniel Ahmed theorizes that "GTA 5" will still be a high-selling game, despite its age. With the $700 million revenue it made from the last twelve months, it still managed to top it previous year's sales and there isn't even a single re-release of the game.
On a business perspective, it would make great sense for Rockstar and Take-Two to hold off for a sequel that fans are craving for. Just because the players ask for a sequel, it doesn't mean that they have already grew tired of the current game and it shows.
"GTA 5" or better yet, "GTA Online" is still making tons of money and fans at the same time that games specifically created for such themes fails to compare sometimes (e.g: "PAYDAY")
Still, this isn't to say that the development of "GTA 6" is cancelled because nobody can even tell if the development has started or will start at all. Only time will tell.
