If the latest reports are to be believed, "Grand Theft Auto 6" or "GTA 6," as the game is popularly known as, may be launched in 2018. The game may also bring a female lead character and unconfirmed reports point towards Eva Mendes. If this turns out to be true, it will be the first time a female will play the lead character in the franchise. However, fans are terribly frustrated with Rockstar Games as it has now been four years since the fifth installment launched. Despite its massive success, "GTA 6" remains elusive.
According to Tech Times, Rockstar Games has confirmed any of the rumors and reports that claim "Grand Theft Auto 6" is already being developed. While "Grand Theft Auto 5" broke all sales records, its online feature is still a hit among fans. Many fans believe that "GTA 6" could be launched in 2018 as Rockstar Games generally has a four-five year gap between releases. "GTA San Andreas" released in 2004, "GTA 4" in 2008 and "GTA 5" in 2013. Going by this, "GTA 6" should launch this year or in 2018.
However, gaming enthusiasts are not confident about the 2018 release of "Grand Theft Auto 6" as Rockstar Games is concentrating fully on "Red Dead Redemption 2" that will be released sometime in 2017. This open-world game has taken away Rockstar's attention away from the GTA franchise. While fans are clearly disappointed with Rockstar's inattention to the GTA franchise, it has not stopped them from speculating where "GTA 6" will be set. It could be in London, as popularly believed.
"Grand Theft Auto 6" may also be set in Tokyo as an insider from the studio claimed people from the studio visited Tokyo a number of times and even trademarked the name "GTA: Tokyo." In 2013, Rockstar Games' Dan Houser revealed to The Guardian that the studio may not consider London even though it provides a great setting for the game.
