Blizzard has revealed at BlizzCon 2016 that they will be releasing a remake of "Diablo 1," but not as a standalone title.

Fans were a bit disappointed about Blizzard's "big 'Diablo' reveal" at the annual event. While some are happy that "Diablo 1" is coming back, most are not keen on getting the classic game as a limited-time only event inside "Diablo 3."

"Diablo 3" production director John Lagrave explained why Blizzard decided to go this route instead of bringing an all new "Diablo 1" remake to the fans in an interview with PC Gamer.

"We love our roots, and 'Diablo' is a fantastic game. We're excited about it," Lagrave explained. "We thought it would be very cool to sit there and recreate that experience into 'Diablo 3'."

"We want everybody to have that feeling of what we felt when we were playing [the original 'Diablo'].." the production director added.

The remake will have some classic "Diablo" features such as the old-school eight direction movement as opposed to the modern 360 degree controls. The game will also feel like the old "Diablo" title, with all sixteen dungeons and all four original bosses returning, albeit with a "pixel filter" to maintain the game's retro feels, according to Forbes.

Disappointed about the recent announcement, some fans have requested to do an AMA with the developers of "Diablo 3" on Reddit to find out the team's plans for the game.

"In light of the last two Blizzcons and in spite of the overwhelming financial success of the 'Diablo' franchise," Redditor TehCyberJunkie wrote on the site, "it really feels like there is a disconnect between what we perceive to be a slam-dunk (expac 2 or D4) and what we've been offered (new class, which is awesome - but extremely little else to refresh an already aging game with a power-creep from hell)."

The "Diablo 1" remake, dubbed the "Darkening of Tristram," will be launched within "Diablo 3" as a free add-on, and will be available on the Public Test Realm server anytime next week.
