"Vikings: Wolves Of Midgard" will finally hit the shelves for Sony's PS4 console on March 28. Several gamers have hinted that this could very well be a good "Diablo 3" alternative.
There is no question that "Diablo" is one of the more popular hack-and-slash games to date. Several game titles have tried to copy Blizzard's formula. "Titan Quest," "Guardians of Ember" and "Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem" are familiar alternatives.
With "Diablo 3's" age and repetitive material, fans have tried to find a similar game. Blizzard has not yet announced the 4th installment of the hit ARPG franchise. Unless we hear confirmation for "Diablo: 4," players are looking elsewhere to play.
"Vikings: Wolves of Midgard." might make it to the list of games for former Diablo players. The game has had mixed reviews for many of the critics that tried the beta for the isometric ARPG game.
The game is not exactly a "Diablo" copycat. It is an ARPG based on Norse Mythology intertwined with fantasy. Gamesfarm has said that the game is not a sequel to "Viking: Battle For Asgard."
In the recently unveiled game footage, the game uses the Unity engine. Its graphics are not that flashy compared to bigger triple-A titles. However, it does offer new elements to the aging ARPG genre.
Aside from leveling up, the game offers a unique attribute upgrade system. The game also has a rage mode where players can use different skills to their advantage.
With the growing dissatisfaction of many "Diablo 3" players, its no wonder why they are looking at other ARPG's. Recently a Youtuber was able to interview "Diablo 2" Lead Developer David Brevik. He talked about the possible changes Blizzard is going to do in "Diablo 4."
Although the interview looked promising, Blizzard has not yet confirmed anything. It will likely land as a rumor generated by a "Diablo 2" developer.
Since "Diablo 4" is still years from now, players might opt to check out "Vikings: Wolves of Midgard." Stay tuned for updates.
