Sony continues to defend Hello Games' open-world space game "No Man's Sky" despite all the controversial issues surrounding it.
During an interview with Geoff Keighley on his "Live With YouTube Gaming" show, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the game.
"They're still working at it. They're still updating it. They're trying to get close enough ... or closer to what their vision was," Layden said. "I think what we learned from that is we don't want to stifle ambition."
The Sony exec also said that Sean Murray and the rest of the team at Hello Games "had an incredible vision of what they were going to create," and the project is a "very huge ambition" for a "very small team," PC Gamer reported.
"No one slinks away from a huge challenge," the Sony chairman added. "And sometimes you just don't get all the way their the first go."
This was not the first time that an executive from Sony has defended "No Man's Sky." Last month, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida posted a statement about "No Man's Sky" on Twitter.
"If any of you have questioned, I have always been awed, amazed, inspired and energized by what Hello Games has accomplished with No Man's Sky," the Sony president tweeted, prompting a barrage of responses from angry "No Man's Sky" players.
Hello Games has remained quiet since "No Man's Sky" was released in August, despite all the issues the game is facing. The developer's Twitter account, however, was reportedly hacked more than a week ago, with the alleged hacker tweeting that "No Man's Sky" was "a mistake."
Fake emails from a person who was allegedly pretending to be Sean Murray were also sent to various news sites, including Polygon, Forbes and Mashable.
