ABC recently released the first trailer of "Scandal" Season 6. The first few scenes teased were explosive. In the clip, a very anxious Mellie Grant awaits the result of the election. Apart from that, the shorter teaser also showed Huck and Quinn heading to an empty cabin that suddenly blows up in front of them, according to IBTimes.

Everything just got crazier as Mellie's hope to win the election gets the best of her. In the trailer, she tells Olivia Pope that she's done being the president of the United States. Deadline noted that "Scandal" Season 6 premiere will showcase "cataclysmic" events, as everyone will get to see the results of the presidential election.

It can be remembered that Season 5 ended with the presidential candidates getting ready to announce their running mates- Republican nominee Grant pairing with vice-presidential choice Jake Ballard, against Democratic hopeful Francisco Vargas with his running mate Cyrus Beene.

The latest "Scandal" Season 6 trailer also shows a heated scene involving the on-off pair Fitz Grant and Liv. The president warns Liv telling "what if" she's wrong, to which Liv replied "I won't be wrong." The two is then seen sharing a tender embrace.

According to Variety, "Scandal" Season 6 premiere date on January 19 means that Shondaland's TGIT lineup is again intact. Shonda Rhime's other two series will be returning with their midseason finales on November 17. The hiatus since May was also well-timed for Kerry Washington's second pregnancy with his husband Nnamdi Asamugha last month.

"Scandal" Season 6 will air on January 19, 2017 at 9PM Thursday, after Shondaland's 'Grey's Anatomy' at 8PM, and followed by 'How to Get Away with Murder' at 10PM.
