The Samsung Gear S3 has the aesthetics of a truly premium watch packed with a bunch of new features. Recently, it was available to pre-order in UK, and the popularity and appeal of this watch made it out of stock after 4 days.
The following message has been posted on Samsung's official Gear S3 webpage:
"Due to high demand the Gear S3 is currently unavailable. Leave your details with us and we'll let you know when it's back in stock."
Nevertheless, the wearable's official release date is still set for November 11. Let us have a quick recap about its functionality and features.
The Gear S3 is considerably bigger than its Gear S2 predecessor. It can even be deemed as a bulkier and more masculine figured wearable.
Still, it is actually available in two models: the Gear S3 Classic and the Gear S3 Frontier. There are no major functional differences between the two, just a change in the strap design. It's available with a silver or dark grey case, with the finish extended to the rotary bezel that continues from the Gear S2.
The Samsung Gear S3 runs on a custom-built Tizen OS, as opposed to the more popular Google-built Android Wear software. It features a circular 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 360 pixel resolution, and is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7270 chip. It also boasts 4GB of storage, 768MB of RAM, and a 380mAh battery that supports wireless charging.
It has in-built features like accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, HRM and ambient light sensor. Also, it supports Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi B/G/N, NFC, MST and GPS/Glonass.
The display is always on and it is also waterproof and dustproof. Interestingly, the Gear S3 now supports both Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC), contactless payment will be possible from the watch.
For fans of hiking or always engaged in outdoor sports, the location tracking can be used to send an SOS message with your location. There are 10,000 apps on Tizen and the rotatory UI is open to third party developers.
The best part is that with a live display, the watch lasts for 4days and can give 10 hours of operation by charging for 15 minutes.
Both designs of the Gear S3 (Frontier and Classic) costs £349, which puts it in the same price range as the new Apple Watch Series 2 (£369).
