Huawei is known for making one of the best Android Wear devices around after the success of its Huawei Watch. Now, the Chinese tech giant is reportedly all set to feature a new OS in its upcoming Huawei Watch 2.

A report claims that the Chinese manufacturer will ditch Google's operating system for "not been very collaborative" and will partner with Samsung to use its Tizen operating system instead.

The Korean newspaper JoonAng Ilbo confirms the report by saying that an anonymous Samsung employee told the two companies recently agreed to work together. However, Samsung denied the rumours in an official statement to Korea Herald.

We can expect that the Huawei will customize Samsung's Tizen OS before featuring in Huawei Watch 2. It shouldn't be an exact copy. A tough competition and new benchmarks are expected to surround the upcoming release of Samsung Gear S3 and Huawei Watch 2.

With the Tizen OS, Huawei Watch 2 will likely to feature more connectivity and openness options in its watch.

Tizen is developed by a community of developers, under open source governance, and is open to all members who wish to participate.

Samsung has been promoting the Tizen OS since a long time as an alternative to the Android in wearable devices. Tizen is best known for powering the Gear S smartwatch series. It is also featured in a few entry-level Galaxy Z smartphones and some smart home appliances.

According to rumors, the Huawei Watch 2 is likely to feature the women's version first. It may be launched in at the CES event.

As a reminder, the Huawei Watch sports a 1.4-inch screen with a 400 x 400 resolution powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 and 512 MB RAM. It's also compatible with both Android and iOS.

Huawei is expected to announce its latest flagship phone, the Mate 9 by the end of 2016, giving a clear opportunity to unveil a new smartwatch as well.
