Motorola, after its management under Lenovo, is battling hard to maintain its trustworthy reputation in the budget smartphone section, especially in developing countries. The Moto G and Moto E, which took the market by storm will soon be getting a fresh new sibling - the Moto M.
As per the leaked photos and rumors, we are excited for the full-metal headset. The Moto M will be powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC and will contain an ultimate 5,100 mAh battery. It's an added advantage over Qualcomm's 14nm chip, which tend to do extremely well with smaller batteries. The talk-time for Moto M is expected to be 78 hours.
The display will add a new variable to the equation. As per rumors, it will be a 5.5-inch, 1080p display, likely of the LCD variety.
Motorola is expected to launch two variants of the smartphone for China and the International market.
The Moto M comes with 4GB of RAM plus 64GB or 128GB of internal storage for the China market. However, the international one will come with a choice between 3GB or 4GB of memory and 32GB or 128GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot in all models.
Further leaks hint towards a 1.5W speaker, 3.5mm audio jack, and a pair of microphones for proper noise cancellation.
It will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but an update to Nougat seems to be likely.
The possible downside is the camera. As per initial rumors, the Moto M will have a 16MP plus 5MP or 8MP setup.
It is speculated that the release date of the Moto M is expected to be in time for the holiday season, likely in December this year.
