"Hunter X Hunter" mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi has made an appearance at a party, prompting a backlash from a lot of fans who are waiting for the manga's chapter 361 to be released.
The mangaka was spotted hanging out with other manga creators during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Osamu Akimoto's police comedy manga "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo," or "Kochikame" for short, according to Anime News Network.
Also in attendance were other popular mangakas like Hisashi Eguchi ("Stop! Hibari-kun"), Kyosuke Usuta ("Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san"), Yudetamago ("Kinnikuman"), Masanori Morita ("Rookies"), Shinji Hiramatsu ("Black Angels"), and Kontarō ("Kaze ni Kiite Kure").
Eguchi posted a group snap of all of them together on social media site Twitter, and the appearance of Togashi seemingly in good health was then picked up by numerous "Hunter X Hunter" fans. The mangaka is said to go on hiatus due to his poor health, specifically because of his bad back.
"I hear Togashi's bedridden," Twitter user shimattikun commented on the photo. Another Twitter user zoo_zoo415 exclaimed, "Togashi's alive!"
Now some fans are accusing Togashi of lying about his medical condition, and the real reason why he stopped working on "Hunter X Hunter" is because he just did not want to.
Another Twitter user, scarletsho, is more optimistic, stating that Togashi looks well enough to probably continue with Chapter 361.
"Yoshihiro Togashi-sensei seems healthy overall," the fan commented. "I humbly look forward to Hunter X Hunter's serialization restarting."
Three months ago, one of the editors in Shonen JUMP, who is very close to the "Hunter X Hunter" mangaka, revealed that the latest hiatus will be very short, since he already finished 24 chapters in the past two years, and has only published 11 chapters.
The source confirmed that Togashi is working very hard, and also said that those 24 chapters are the best chapters in "Hunter X Hunter" ever.
