Even with the NBA season around the corner, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly not done with the process of improving their roster. Reports claimed that the Cavaliers are currently willing to trade their shooting guard Iman Shumpert to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for their point guard Ricky Rubio.
Morning News USA reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking forward to trading Shumpert before the next year's trade deadline. Reports claimed that the Cavaliers are interested in Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio as they are in desperate need of a backup point guard to team up with Kyrie Irving.
According to NBA trade rumors, Rubio will provide the Cleveland Cavaliers with excellent on-court offensive skills, which is expected to help the team to defend their NBA champion title.
Nevertheless, few reports stated that Cavaliers might provide Shumpert with another chance to prove his worth before the trade deadline as he is considered to be the key player for winning this year's league title.
On the other hand, even the Minnesota Timberwolves are keen on bringing in Shumpert onto their roster. ESPN insider Zach Lowe stated that the 26-year-old player will be a perfect fit for the Timberwolves team and prove to be a valuable asset for the team's coach Tom Thibodeau.
It is stated that Shumpert will provide the Timberwolves with excellent defensive skills and thus help the team to provide tough competition to other teams in the NBA league. There are reports that Shumpert might be teamed up with small forward Andrew Wiggins, power forward Pau Gasol and point guard Kris Dunn, which will put up high scores on the board for the Minnesota Timberwolves team.
However, there is still no official word on the rumored Iman Shumpert and Ricky Rubio trade scenario. Keep posted here for more NBA trade rumors and updates on the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves team.
