Fans who are waiting for the latest volume of the popular manga series "Hunter X Hunter" will be disappointed as there might be no new volumes coming out this year.
The 34th volume of the Japanese manga series, said to be a compilation of chapters 351-360, was expected to come out later this year. However, there is no news from its publisher, Shueisha, about the new volume.
Shueisha has already announced the last batch of releases for Shonen JUMP for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, "Hunter X Hunter" Volume 34 is nowhere to be found on the list. The last volume of the manga series, Volume 33: "Yakusai (Threats)" was released in June 2016, and was the manga's first volume in three years.
As for the much awaited continuation of the manga series, Chapter 361, there is also no indication on when this will finally be released. Togashi was said to take a hiatus from working on the manga, due to health concerns.
Three months ago, one of the editors in Shonen JUMP, who is very close to the "Hunter X Hunter" mangaka, revealed that the latest hiatus will be very short, since he already finished 24 chapters in the past two years, and has only published 11 chapters.
The source confirmed that Togashi is working very hard, and also said that those 24 chapters are the best chapters in "Hunter X Hunter" ever.
As for the anime, VIZ Media has recently announced that they will be releasing the first season of "Hunter X Hunter" on Blu-ray and DVD.
The upcoming release will cover the first quarter of Season One and will feature thirteen uncut episodes, both available in English and Japanese subs, as well as a lot of never-before-seen extras, according to Anime News Network.
A Steelbook edition for the "Hunter X Hunter" home media release will also be available exclusively in the US via Best Buy.
The "Hunter X Hunter" anime home release will be available on Oct. 25. As for the manga, stay tuned for more updates here.
