It's finally here folks. Samsung has unleashed the Galaxy S3 in the world. This device will be Samsung's flagship smartphone for 2012, and from what we can tell by looking at the device being demoed on-stage, competitors are going to have a hell of a hard time keeping up with this beauty of a smartphone.

First on-stage was the Gadget Show presenter Suzi Perry. According to Perry, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is "designed for humans," something we think is a shot at Apple fans, who Samsung called "Sheeps."

Samsung President and head of IT and Mobile, JK Shin, took to the stage after Suzi Perry left. The man looked dapper in that suit, ready and waiting to slice and dice a bunch of Apples instead of taking a bite, more likely. He began by introducing himself and also stating how he is "excited to introduce the next Galaxy, the Galaxy S3." What he said next got us extremely more interested in what is to come. In fact, this will be one of the biggest reasons to pick up a Galaxy S3.

JK Shin says the Samsung Galaxy S3 will feature a 4.8 inch display; this is .5 more inches of the Galaxy S2, which is not too far from what rumors suggested. The device will also come packed with an 8-megapixel camera, which hopefully will be better than the 8-megapixel shooter in the Galaxy S2. Shin also went on to show off how the slim the device is, it is 8.6mm thin and weighs 133g, slim and light for a phone with a 4.8 inch touch display.

The design of the handset is 'inspired by nature" says Shin. Nature, as in curved feel of pebbles and water, whatever that means. To power this huge display, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be powered by a large 2100 mAH battery. This should allow the device to go through a whole day without charge (we're impressed). It's great how the company found ways to pack a 4.8-inch screen on such a slim frame along with a big battery at the back.

Shin also spoke about some voice control feature which is similar to Siri. Then he did what everyone was waiting for, he took out the big guy. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is truly a stunning device, and that 4.8 inch display is huge, yet the phone itself doesn't seem to be that much larger than the Galaxy S2. There is also a chin on this one, we're not sure how we feel about that, but nonetheless, it still looks awesome, and it's in white too.

An intro video of the device took center stage after JK Shin left the stage. After that, Jean-Daniel Ayme, vice president of European telecom operations for Samsung, took to the stage to talk more about the Samsung Galaxy S3 features and everything we need to know. He said the device is a phone that listen, sees and responds to our intentions. Say "Wake up," and the phone will respond to your voice. If you missed a message or call, by simply picking up your phone, the information will be available to you at that very moment.

There is also a neat little feature that utilizes the front facing camera. Samsung calls this Smart Stay, and what is does is recognizes when you are looking at the phone screen. How does this benefit the user? Well, have you ever been using your smartphone and every time the display goes dark or the screen locks itself after a couple seconds of you not touching the display? This feature will help. The camera knows when you are looking at the screen, so all the problems just mentioned will never happen again. According to Jean Daniel, "the device sleeps when you sleep."

Next up is Samsung's Siri killer. The company calls it S-Voice. The phone will wake up when you talk it along with many other Siri-like commands. We saw it in action and we have to admit, it is pretty awesome, a reason for Apple to be shaking in its boots.

Other things that got mentioned is the new Exynos quad core 1.4GHz processor, LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, and the zero shutter lag of the 8-megapixel camera. The camera also come packed with some new features.

Storage options include 16, 32 and 64GB along with microSD expansion. When can you get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy S3 you ask? Not too long from now. It will be available in Europe on May 29 2012, no word on when it will make its merry little way state side though we can expect it sometime in June.

What are your general thoughts about the Samsung Galaxy S3? Will you be getting it? Or is it too big to hold in your pocket? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
