An image leak has just confirmed the next setting for Ubisoft's action game "Assassin's Creed Empire."
A leaked screen of what looks like a prototype for the next "Assassin's Creed" title was shared on Twitter by known industry insider Nibel. The image showed a render of a pyramid, which pretty much confirms the Egyptian setting for the next "Assassin's Creed" game.
Nibel also pointed out that the previously rumored "Prince of Persia" reboot may have been "Assassin's Creed Empire" all along. It could also be possible that Ubisoft scrapped the reboot altogether and used the assets to bring "Assassin's Creed Empire" back to life.
Gamesradar reported that the person's name that appeared on the screenshot and is listed as admin, Peter Tran, is said to be a Montreal-based 3D artist. It is helpful to note that Ubisoft Montreal is one of the studios in charge of the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.
The leak got "Assassin's Creed" fans excited about the next title, but the bad news is that we may not even see the game until 2018.
In an interview with IGN, Ubisoft VP of Editorial Tommy François said that the "Assassin's Creed" franchise is still being looked at, along with another popular Ubisoft franchise "Far Cry."
"I'll tell you what," François said, "We believe Alpha for these games needs to be one year before release. We're trying to achieve that. That's super f****** blunt, I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this. This is the goal we're going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish."
"So if this means biting the [bullet] and not having an Assassin's game, or a 'Far Cry' [in 2017], f*** it," François added.
More "Assassin's Creed Empire" news should be expected after the release of the highly anticipated "Assassin's Creed" movie this December.
