tvN's "Cinderella and Four Knights," starring Jung Il-Woo, Park So Dam and Ahn Jae-Hyun, has been touted as the next "Boys Over Flowers" after it premiered on Aug. 12.
Both tvN's "Cinderella and Four Knights" and KBS 2TV's "Boys Over Flowers" spins a modern-day Cinderella story. The 16-episode tvN drama follows a poor highschool student, Eun Ha-Won (Park So Dam).
Eun Ha-Won attracts the interest of the three chaebols cousins - Kang Ji-Woon (Jung Il-Woo), Kang Hyu-Min (Ahn Jae-Hyun) and Kang Seo Woo (Lee Jung Shin) - and their bodyguard, Lee Yoon-Sung (Choi Min), who is also the secretary of Chairman Kang (Kim Yong-Gun).
In the midst of a press conference for "Cinderella and Four Knights," Ahn Jae Hyun discussed the drama's similarities to KBS 2TV's "Boys Over Flowers." The KBS drama, which aired From Jan. 5 to March 31, 2009, starred Lee Min Ho, Ku Hye-Sun, and SS501's Kim Hyun-Joong.
"It feels a little bit like 'Boys Over Flowers'," Soompi quoted Ahn as saying. "The relationship between the characters are similar and it is all about all the men around the female protagonist."
The tvN drama, which was completely pre-produced before its premiere, is based on the 2011 novel of the same name. Other stars include Son Na-Eun, Kim Hye-Ri, Choi Eun-Kyeon, Seo Hyun-Chul and Ko Bo-Gyeol.
Meanwhile, Park So Dam flaunted more of her "handsome pretty" side in an autumn-inspired pictorial for Grazia Korea's magazine. In the accompanying interview, she explained how she earned the said label.
"I'm the type to set the mood when I'm with a group of friends, so I think my energetic personal earned me that label," Park revealed, as quoted by All Kpop. "I might be feeling really down but I'm able to up my energy fast. I can't do anything when I'm feeling under the weather. I have to keep myself busy with work that gives me joy."
"Cinderella and Four Knights" airs on tvN every Friday-Saturday at 11:00 PM (KST).
