The hotly anticipated Crysis 3 seems to be going back to its roots of jungle warfare and mayhem. The official gameplay trailer shows a dense and jungle tangled New York City, which was destroyed in the previous game. Crysis 2 was a disappoint to longtime fans as the fight took them out of their hardcore zone and into a place where newcomers could enjoy the game. But now, it is back to the deathly hollows.
Prophet is back, back in a place that is 24 years after the event of Crysis 2 and things are not looking pretty. The city is in decay and utter ruins, dead bodies are lying everywhere while the CELL (CryNet Enforcement & Local Logistics) is trying to contain the virus outbreak that was introduced by the Ceph. The CELL uses gargantuan Nanodome to surround the crushed city to quarantine it.
The game looks amazing from what we have seen via the gameplay trailer, and not to mention gamers will get to use a kick-ass bow and arrow to bring havoc down on the CELL which is after the Prophet's Nano Suit, and the remaining Aliens still lurking around. Here's to hoping gamers like ourselves can truly go hunting for with that bow in the thick jungle of New York City. Wouldn't that be something?
According to Rasmus Hojengard, director of creative development at Crytek, "It's (New York City) essentially a highly advanced greenhouse, we didn't want to just paint a little green color over the cracks and call it a day. We wanted the city to define the shape of the rainforest, which in turn shapes the mood and storytelling of Crysis 3."
Hojengaard stated that Crysis 3 is the climax in the series. He didn't outright say it is the final game, but maybe what he's saying is Crysis 3 is the final chapter in the story, the end of the line for Prophet. We would love to see more Crysis games after this, if not with Prophet at the helm then another character we can connect with much like the same we do with Prophet.
The game is aiming for a 2013 release date on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. On the matter of the Nintendo Wii U, Crytek will definitely support the system as the specifications are up to snuff, yet on the matter of Crysis 3 making it to Nintendo's new baby doll, Hojengard was quoted as saying, "not a fat chance."
Sorry Nintendo fans, it seems Crysis 3 won't be coming your way. All is not lost though, the quote "not a fat chance" could mean there is a slim chance the game might release on the Wii U at a later date. Heh heh, we're just trolling you guys, it's not coming.
