"World of Warcraft" has been taken out of obscurity with the success of its latest expansion, "Legion."

Blizzard has sold over 3.3 million copies of "World of Warcraft: Legion" during its first day of release on Aug. 30, matching the records of previous expansion releases, according to PC Gamer. This also makes "World of Warcraft: Legion" one of the fastest-selling PC games ever.

The launch has recorded the highest launch-week player concurrency since its "Cataclysm" expansion was released in 2010.

"It's been a thrill to see players hunting demons, powering up Artifacts, and freely exploring all the new zones in Legion," Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said in a press release. "We worked hard to make this the best World of Warcraft expansion yet, and we look forward to providing players with even more content as Legion's epic story unfolds in the months ahead."

Blizzard has also launched its "World of Warcraft: Legion" Companion App this week, which is designed to support "Legion" players and have them "stay connected to their adventures on the Broken Isles" even while on the go.

"With the app, players can manage their Order Hall missions and track World Quest availability, making it easy to plan out their adventures from afar." according to Blizzard. The developer has recently posted an FAQ on the Companion App, which can be found here. The app is available for Android and iOS.

During this year's Gamescom, Blizzard promises that there will be no "content drought" this time around, something that happened with previous expansions "Warlords of Draenor" and "Mists of Pandaria." At the same time, the developer said that the team will not rush an expansion, and will make sure to release it when ready.

A patch for "World of Warcraft: Legion", dubbed "Return to Karazhan," will be launched in a few weeks.
