The much awaited major expansion for Bungie's first-person shooter game "Destiny," "Rise of Iron," drops next month, promising players tons of new content and improvements to the overall experience.

Here are some things players need to know before "Rise of Iron" launches in September.

What is "Rise of Iron" about?

The "Rise of Iron" DLC presents a new storyline involving the fate of the Iron Lords. The Fallen have taken hold of a new nanotechnology called SIVA, which in turn wiped out all the Iron Lords, Lord Saladin being the only survivor.

The player must then be an Iron Lord himself and help restore the Iron Banner by recovering the stolen technology and defeating the Fallen.

What's new in "Rise of Iron"?

Apart from the new story campaign, which will present players with tons of quests and missions, "Rise of Iron" will include a lot of new areas to explore. Felwinter Peak will serve as a new social hub, where players can interact, get quests and visit shops, according to Digital Trends.

The Plaguelands will now be accessible in the game, which will come with its own quests and other things to do.

A new Raid, called "Wrath of the Machine," and a new Strike, "The Wretched Eye," will also be added to the game. Tweaks were also made to existing Strikes like "The Devils' Lair and "The Summoning Pits."

Another huge change is coming in the form of PvE map Archon's Forge. Game Informer has exclusive information about the new space, which you can watch on their site.

New weapons will also be introduced in the game, along with a new customization system, which is discussed by Youtuber Arekkz in the video below.

When is "Rise of Iron" coming out?

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC users on Sept. 20. Unfortunately, as we have reported previously, last-gen console owners won't be able to experience the new DLC.
