Fans will finally be able to get a hands-on experience on the highly anticipated shooter "Battlefield 1" this week when Electronic Arts launches the open beta for the game. Here's everything you need to know before diving into the action.

What Should I Expect?

The "Battlefield 1" beta will include the Sinai Desert map, which according to EA DICE is one of the biggest Conquest levels in the game.

"Sinai Desert offers a diverse gameplay experience that takes advantage of all of the elements that make World War I a perfect setting for a Battlefield game," the developer wrote on the "Battlefield 1" blog.

There are tons of thing things players can do on the Sinai Desert map, as per EA, including riding horses, encountering planes and armored trains, and surviving the harsh weather conditions. Speaking of weather conditions, all "Battlefield 1" maps will be featuring a dynamic weather system.

There will be two modes available during "Battlefield 1"'s open beta, called Conquest, which is a 64-player free-for-all, and Rush, a 24-hour player mode, which involves defending or destroying Telegraph Posts to stop artillery strikes.

When Will It Start?

Open beta will start on Aug. 31, but those who have signed up for the Battlefield Insider program by Aug. 21 will be able to enjoy the game one day ahead of everyone else via an early access code.

No other access codes are required to get in the beta come Aug. 31.

How Long Will The Public Beta Be?

Electronic Arts has not confirmed how long the open beta will run for, but according to Czech website Zing (via Videogamer), EA Poland sent them an email confirming that the beta will end on Sept. 8.

The email also claimed to say that this week's beta is "the only chance for everyone to try the game before release," which implies that this is the only beta planned for "Battlefield 1."

"Battlefield 1" will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 21.
