It looks like Nintendo struck gold with their latest "Zelda" title, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," as the upcoming game bagged tons of awards even before its 2017 release date.
The highly anticipated game was crowned the best game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year, according to Digital Trends, despite being Nintendo's only main game at the convention.
Nintendo's showcase title also gained a lot of mentions on various social media sites like Twitter and Facebook during this year's E3, making it the most talked about game of the entire conference, VG 24/7 reported.
The game dominated social media and thwarted the likes of "Battlefield 1," "God of War" and "Watch Dogs 2."
Even recently, despite not showing anything groundbreaking from last E3, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" still bagged the top spot at the recently concluded Gamescom in Germany.
The upcoming game was pitted against other heavy hitting titles like "For Honor," "Final Fantasy XV" and ""Horizon Zero Dawn," but the much awaited game still takes the top prize home.
"Breath of the Wild" was also named Best Wii U Console Game during the popular game convention.
