Fans of the original "Resident Evil 2" may get a taste of the remastered edition early next year according to certain sources.

Online videogaming news outlet Video Gamer reported that "Resident Evil 2" remastered edition's development is going "smoothly" according to an exclusive interview with CAPCOM's associate programmer, writer and producer for the "Resident Evil" series.

Hirabayashi explained that capturing the original game's spirit is one of their topmost priorities and his team and Capcom is working extra hard to make all these things possible.

"As you mentioned, the first game's remake is held up as proof that a remaster can recapture the original game," he stated.

"And as it so happens, the RE GameCube remake was my first project at Capcom. I was able to learn from more experienced colleagues and see with my own eyes how they translated their efforts into such a masterpiece that built on an already well-received game. It was an incredibly valuable experience for me" Hirabayashi added.

The first "Resident Evil" remaster for the GameCube already was a nice learning experience for Hirabayashi and he's more than hype for the modern remaster of "Resident Evil 2."

Fans have been asking for a footage or at least a screenshot for the game, but neither Capcom nor the team directly involved with the remaster is yet to provide any at the moment. There's even no telling if it will have the same fixed camera angle or the third person view similar to Resident Evil 4.

The game has been tipped for a reveal this coming January 2017 and is rumored to be for Xbox One and PlaySation 4. No words regarding a PC release, but everything is to be taken as a grain of salt at this point as there is no official word from Capcom yet.

Some rumors also associate "Resident Evil 2" launching alongside the latest iteration of their series, "Resident Evil 7," which happens to be January 24 2017.

Hopefully, the remake will be a better game than the supposedly fan-made remake that was almost created two years ago. Check the video below to see the potential of the fan-made remake and what we're supposed to expect with the official one from Capcom.
