Samsung's much-awaited One UI 7 is the most hyped software for Android users so far, but it appears that there's only a little information regarding this OS.
More importantly, though, the company said that a beta build for developers would be available by year's end. Early confusion over its public release left many Galaxy users frustrated and unsure if it's worth the shot or not.
Samsung One UI 7 Public Beta
After the Developers Conference 2024, it was muttered that the Galaxy One UI 7 beta would not go public. It's relieving to note, however, that Samsung cleared all the air on that.
In response to a question posted on its South Korean community forum, a moderator replied that, yes indeed, it was quite true that the One UI 7 beta would be public. Once confirmed, the schedule shall be notified to users through a banner within the Samsung Members app once again mirroring how things have been done within the last couple of years.
Unclear Timeline Regarding One UI 7 Beta Program
The company promised the public that they would have access to this beta, but unfortunately, it is still unclear on when to expect the One UI 7 beta.
Normally, Samsung starts the public beta program in August, but it begins with one stable public build that has rolled out in October or early November. There is no public beta yet this year, and even users are confused about this.
One UI 7 to Launch with Samsung Galaxy S25 in 2024
Another reason for the delay might be its desire to shift the release schedule. As revealed by the presentations at the developer conference, it will bring the first native One UI 7 build together with the Samsung Galaxy S25 to the beginning of next year. This change will make the existing Galaxy users wait for a period far more extended than what they are accustomed to before getting Android 15 natively on their smartphones.
Design and Features: Hands-on with One UI 7
According to Android Police, one of the hands-on videos coming out of the conference offers the very first glimpse at One UI 7 on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Changes were mostly created based on iPhone design since this includes a revamped Quick Settings panel, as well as redesigned notifications with rounded corners.
The Camera app was also improved, with an entirely new concept designed for right-handed usage. There wasn't any perceived choppiness in its closed beta state.
Samsung Targets iOS-Style Smoothness
Maybe, if Samsung manages to perfect One UI 7 to give something competing with iOS-level smoothness, the wait will be worth it. Users may now look for that fluid feel, usability, and interface refinement in the long-awaited One UI 7 as it finally arrives with the Galaxy S25.
In the meantime, though, Galaxy users can look forward to further updates and details regarding the public beta program as Samsung edges closer to a final release of One UI 7.
