iOS 18 Bugs: Crashing Messages and Touchscreen Problems

Since the release of iOS 18, some users have been reporting some weird glitches. The most commonly reported bug causes the Messages application not to be up to its smooth mark as it starts crashing the moment the recipients open their iMessages containing pictures of Apple Watch faces. In this case, people can't help but get irritated with the tantrums these bugs show by making sure the messaging app works poorly.

Beyond the Messages bug, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max owners are running into another major issue with devices that suddenly refuse to function their touchscreens, Phone Arena writes.

Slow response times and problems with essential use are common symptoms. Adding insult to injury, the iPadOS 18 for M4-powered iPad Pro needed to be pulled entirely after it wiped a few devices and bricked them utterly. IOS 18 isn't off on the best footing.

Unplanned iOS 18.0.1 Patch Rolled Out Prematurely

Apple will launch an iOS 18.0.1 update next week to address these issues. Though the site analytics of the MacRumors website have detected traces of an update, it also sends them the news that the update will be live no later than next week. Still, although the company will unleash iOS 18.1 next month, iOS 18.0.1 will be a point release with bug fixes, face messages, and touchscreen bugs.

What's Coming in iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2?

Apple's first big update, iOS 18.1, is set to roll out in October. The iOS 18.1 will carry some Apple Intelligence features needing 8GB of RAM. The features will only be accessible on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

In December, iOS 18.2 will add yet another AI-powered feature to that. Apple said iOS 18.4 will be coming in March of next year when it will bring more advanced AI features--the future and exciting new chapter for the iPhone.

Apple Intelligence Along With New AI Features

The roadmap of Apple Intelligence features in upcoming iOS updates has now been unveiled by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in a recent article. Those may include integration with the popular ChatGPT in Siri, offering more advanced and accurate responses based on user queries. Instead of fetching websites for Siri, it will use AI to provide direct answers with your permission.

One of the most excellent new features that just hit the pipeline is Image Playground, which lets users create images within apps based on a text description. And for those who love sending emojis, the new Genmoi feature will let you create your custom emoji from your descriptions, so your messages can include even more fun, personal imagery.

How to Check For App Updates

It is a welcome patch if iOS 18 bugs have nagged you. To see if your iPhone is updated, open Settings > General > Software Update. The current version is iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5. Look for the iOS 18.0.1 patch to be available next week.

The experience will become smoother for iPhone users as the company will roll out more fixes and exciting features.
