Sony reassured fans that the October release date is still a go after releasing new screenshots for its long awaited adventure title "The Last Guardian."

The screens were posted on the official Playstation Facebook page on Wednesday, showcasing the game's beautiful visuals. There is a notable improvement on its graphics from when the game was first announced.

The screenshots show the protagonist of "The Last Guardian," the little boy and his majestic bird-like companion Trico, traipsing through the game's visually impressive world. The game will focus on the relationship between the two main characters of the game.

The much anticipated game "The Last Guardian" was rumored to have been in development hell since 2007, and fans have been eagerly waiting for the game since.

The game was first announced with much fanfare during Sony's press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2009.

The game was initially slated for a Playstation 3 release, but shifted to developing for the new generation console Playstation 4 in between development.

This move was stated as one of the reasons why the game has been in development for a long time.

"A lot of the engineering effort had to be redone from scratch," Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. president Shuhei Yoshida said. "So that contributed to the length of the project."

Sony previously stated that they are confident about the game meeting the fans' high expectations. Shuhei said that he has placed his confidence on creator Fumito Ueda and the rest of the team to deliver a great experience for the players.

"I have confidence in the team and Ueda-san's vision," he said during an interview with Gameswelt. "We are so excited to finally be able to play this game that needed to be out."

"The Last Guardian" will finally be out on Playstation 4 by October 25.
