The "Persona 5" hype train is in full gear as various media is being released prior to the September release date in Japan, as well as a short new gameplay video.
According to Anime News Network, a tv anime special titled "Persona 5 the Animation - The Day Breakers - " will be aired in Japan on September 3. The special episode will revolve around the prologue story of the game.
Unlike the animation of the main game, which will feature animation sequences from Production I.G., the anime special will be animated at A-1 Pictures.
The company has been involved in the previous "Persona" animations such as the "Persona 3" movies, "Trinity Soul," and "Persona 4 the Golden Animation."
Takaharu Ozaki will be taking the director's helm, while the script will be written by Shinichi Inotsume ("Gangsta," "Yona of the Dawn").
The first half of the TV special will feature interviews with the cast, followed by the main animation sequence.
A manga adaptation is also in the works by mangaka Murasaki Hisato ("Boku no Mawari no Uchuujin") and will be launched on Shogakukan's Manga One app on September 15, as well as the Ura Sunday website on September 22.
Atlus has also recently streamed a new gameplay video on their Youtube page.
The one-minute video showcased the Personas being summoned in game in all its stylish glory. One noticeable change is that the Personas emerge behind the character even before choosing the spells or actions to be executed.
The video is short but is enough to send fans into a frenzied hype all over again. Unfortunately, fans in the West would have to wait for a few more months as the RPG will not be out until next year, a full five months after the Japanese release.
"Persona 5" will be out in Japan on September 15 for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4, and in North America on Valentines Day, February 14.
