A rumor claimed that Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo was spotted in the popular Tsuruma Park in Nagoya, Japan.

According to Livedoor, the rumors started when a Twitter user claimed that the Legendary Pokémon, which is not available in the game yet, can be found in the park, which is incidentally shaped like a Pokéball.

The Twitter post turned out to be an elaborate prank, but tons of Japanese Pokémon players flocked to the park to get their hands on the Legendary mon.

Over a thousand people gathered in Tsuruma Park well until midnight to get a glimpse of Mewtwo, according to another Twitter post. Fans were sorely disappointed when the Legendary Pokémon did not appear.

Fans did not go empty-handed, however. According to Kotaku, some people in attendance have caught the powerful water-type Pokémon Blastoise and Gyarados in the park. These two Pokémon are very hard to find, so the park ended up as a good Pokémon hunting spot in the end.

The park is still swarmed with people hunting for Pokémon until the following day, and people have reportedly caught grass-type Venusaur in the wild.

As for finding the Legendary Pokemon, Niantic Labs have not officially announced whether these would be included in the game as of the moment.

The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos, along with Mythical Pokémon Mew and transform Pokémon Ditto are spotted in the game's source code, which hints at a possible future appearance, and might be part of huge events similar to Niantic Lab's other game "Ingress."

The Legendaries were rumored to appear at the "Pokémon GO" Panel at San Diego Comic Con. When asked about this, Niantic boss John Hanke said, "If I could summon a Pokémon for you here right now, I would."

"We're working hard," Hanke continued. "We haven't rolled the game out everywhere yet, we're adding countries every day. We're gonna get there, but there's no new Pokemon here today."
