Sony has confirmed that the developers are now putting the finishing touches on its highly anticipated adventure game "The Last Guardian."
The President of Sony's Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc., Shuhei Yoshida, said this during last week's PlayStation Blogcast.
During the hour-long blogcast, Yoshida said that "The Last Guardian" has been going through many playtests already and is now being polished by the development team.
This means that the game is almost finished and is in the middle of being tested to make sure it runs smoothly before its October launch date, according to Attack of the Fanboy.
Yoshida added that while the development team want to improve things until the last minute, they were able to announce the game's release date at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Demos were also available for the game, but they made sure it does not show too much in order not to spoil the story.
"The Last Guardian" has endured a grueling development period, with the development team facing endless release date delays and trademark issues.
The game was in active development since 2007, under the working title "Project Trico," and was originally slated for release for the Playstation 3, which was only a year old at the time.
In 2012, development shifted from Playstation 3 to Playstation 4, which has contributed to the delay of the game, according to Yoshida.
Despite the delays, Yoshida said that he is not worried about the game not meeting the fans' expectations.
"I have confidence in the team and [Fumito] Ueda-san's vision," he said during an interview with Gameswelt. "We are so excited to finally be able to play this game that needed to be out."
Fumito Ueda, the creator of "The Last Guardian," is also responsible for the critically acclaimed classic titles "Ico" and "Shadow of the Colossus."
"The Last Guardian" is finally coming out for the Playstation 4 on October 25.
