"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" creator Koji Igarashi has beaten the demo of his own game in five minutes without killing any enemies, except for the boss.
Gamers are known to do speedruns of popular games, most of the time with an added handicap. No one, however, will be better at a game than its own creator.
The legendary "Castlevania" producer just proved that fact when he was presented this challenge at Bitsummit, an indie game festival in Kyoto, Japan. He was challenged to beat the "Bloodstained" demo in the said timeframe, without using potions and backdashes.
Iga, as fans fondly call him, accepted the challenge. The producer was able to avoid most of the enemies without a scratch, and even smiled when he was able to avoid the huge enemy blocking the way.
Funnily enough, Iga got confused with the map in "classic Igavania style" and went the wrong way about three minutes into the challenge, but was able recover quickly.
Iga was able to defeat the final boss in less than ninety minutes. True enough, the renowned producer knows how to beat his own game.
"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" is an upcoming "Castlevania" spiritual successor made by Igarashi. Fans have been asking him to make another "Metroidvania"-style game, prompting him to make this game.
The indie game is funded through Kickstarter, and is one of the most successful video game campaigns on the site. "Bloodstained" reached its base goal of $500,000 in only four hours, and an amazing $1 million in less than a day, The Verge reported.
The story of "Bloodstained" will follow the protagonist Miriam. Afflicted by an alchemist's curse which slowly turns her skin into crystal, she must find Gebel, a summoner who is also suffering from the same curse.
This month, Igarashi confirmed that "Bloodstained" is "heading into full production mode," according to Game Reactor.
"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" is scheduled for a March 2017 release and is heading to PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, Wii U, and PC.
