Fans did not see the sandbox third-person shooter game "Crackdown 3" at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3. Is Reagent Games planning on showcasing the upcoming title at Gamescom instead?

"Crackdown 3" might be a no-show at this year's biggest game trade show, but that did not stop Reagent Games from announcing that the game is coming real soon.

During E3 week, "Crackdown 3" director David Jones announced that the game will be coming in 2017.

"We know that many are looking forward to becoming Agents in Crackdown 3 and we are committed to delivering the best experience in 2017," Jones wrote in a statement on the official Crackdown website. "This decision was made with our fans and their gaming experience in mind."

The sequel was initially announced during Xbox's media briefing at E3 2014. It is said to continue the series six years after the events of "Crackdown 2."

A gameplay video was then showcased for the first time a year later at Gamescom 2015, according to The Verge. Fans now speculate that it would make sense for Reagent Games to show more of the upcoming title at this year's Gamescom as well.

Gamescom 2016 will be happening from August 18 - 21, so fans will find out soon if Reagent Games will show more details about the anticipated game.

In other news, PC gamers also have something to get excited about as they will finally be able to play "Crackdown 3" for the first time ever. Reagent Games has also announced that "Crackdown 3" will be playable on PC, made possible by the Xbox Play Anywhere program.

The previous titles, "Crackdown" and "Crackdown 2," were released exclusively on the Xbox 360.

With the Play Anywhere scheme, cross-play between PC and Xbox One will be possible.

2017 is still a long way to go, so to tide fans over until the game is released, Microsoft is including "Crackdown" and "Crackdown 2" in the Xbox 360 Ultimate Game Sale.

Fans can revisit the action-adventure game for less than $15, and an even bigger discount is available for Xbox Gold members.

"Crackdown" is available for only $6.44, with a Gold exclusive price of $4.94, while "Crackdown 2" is on sale for only $12.89, with a Gold exclusive price of $9.89.

"Crackdown 3" is also available for preorder at the Microsoft Store, with a price tag of $59.99.
