2K Games' "NBA 2K17" will be released in September, and retail stores and websites are now offering pre-orders for the game. But is it smart to place a pre-order for "NBA 2K17" right now?
It is a no-brainer to get a glimpse of the goods first before purchasing it. Same idea applies to pre-ordering "NBA 2K17," or pre-ordering any game, for that matter.
So far, neither developer Visual Concepts nor publisher 2K Games have not released any gameplay footage yet. In effect, gamers are paying for something without knowing exactly what they are paying for, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
Forbes reported that there is a new face scan app on the way for "NBA 2K17," which is a welcome fix for the frustrating face capture of the previous "NBA 2K16" game. Locker codes will also make a comeback, and signature animations will be added to the new game.
These are all good additions, but fans are asking for more. These are all standard elements of an "NBA 2K" game, and fans are getting tired of seeing yearly releases of NBA games with little to no improvements from the previous title.
This is, however, not dismissing the fact that the "NBA 2K" franchise is one of the most successful sports franchises ever, with the latest title getting generally positive reviews from critics.
On the flip side, there are a lot of perks that will come with pre-ordering "NBA 2K17," like the Early Tip-Off Weekend, wherein people who pre-ordered the game can pick up the game four days before the game's official release date.
The bonuses, like Virtual Currency and MyTeam Bundle digital card packs, can also be one thing that will persuade gamers to pre-order the game.
If the previous titles are anything to go by, "NBA 2K17" will be a solid title in its own right. However, fans might want to steer clear of pre-ordering until Visual Concepts drops more information about the game.
"NBA 2K17" will be out on September 16 in Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC for people who pre-ordered the game, and September 20 for everybody else.
