Atlus USA has finally revealed the North American release date of its latest Japanese Role-Playing Game, "Persona 5." Will the title still live up to its hype, and would the wait be worth it?

It looks like fans would have to hold out a bit longer, as the game will not be out until Valentines Day 2017, five months after the Japanese release. Atlus USA's PR Manager John Hardin explained cause of the delay on the Playstation Blog.

"Well, the biggest factor in the 2017 release date is attention to detail," Hardin said. "We're making sure every bit is in place."

Hardin then said that once fans see "Persona 5" next week on this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, or E3, they will understand what Atlus means.

This is not the first time that "Persona 5" was delayed. IGN reports that the game was originally slated for a Winter 2014 release, but was moved to summer this year.

"Persona 5" has gone a long way since its first trailer was released in 2014, with more details being revealed with every new trailer. The first trailer only showed the protagonist, while the latest trailer introduced the fans to more interesting characters, each with their own quirks and personalities that is unmistakably Persona.

Atlus' last numbered Persona title, "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4," was released in 2008 and has received critical acclaim from game critics during its release. The game has spawned multiple spin-off titles like fighting game "Persona 4 Arena" and rhythm game "Persona 4: Dancing All Night".

"Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3", which was released two years earlier, has also received positive reviews from critics, with Japanese game publication Famitsu giving it the Best RPG of the Year award.

It is obvious that fans will be expecting more from the latest "Persona" franchise. This is one of the reasons why Atlus has been delaying the game's release. "Persona has exponentially grown as a franchise," Hardin explained. "And considering that this is our first numbered sequel since 2008, Atlus is taking its time to ensure this is the best possible experience."

"Persona 5" might just be worth the wait, after all.

"Persona 5" is now available for pre-order for the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3. There is a limited "Take Your Heart" Premium Edition and a special Steelbook Launch Edition available, both exclusive to PS4.
