Blizzard Entertainment and Facebook collaborated widen the network for users to connect with their friends through live streams and direct logins.
It was reported that Facebook's Live API and login will be linked to all Blizzard's games, which will take effect in July. The update will be integrated into games such as "Overwatch," "Heroes of the Storm," "Diablo III," "Starcraft II," "World of Warcraft," and "Hearthstone."
Furthermore, the recent collaboration will allow players to register and sign-in to games through their Facebook accounts. There will also be an available social option for them to share, view and open up discussions about a certain content with others.
Players may also share live gaming streams from Blizzard Entertainment's platform to their timeline by using Facebook's Live API. With the help of the feature, their friends can subscribe and be notified whenever a new video will be available.
A press was released by the company and Executive Vice President of corporate operations at Blizzard Entertainment, Gio Hunt said that, "Blizzard games are best when played with friends, so it's important to us to provide our players with features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other," reported by Yahoo News.
"We're working closely with Facebook on this integration for 'Overwatch', as well as our other games, and we look forward to sharing further details on our plans as development progresses," Hunt continued.
On the other hand, the partnership has opened a new door in connecting the gaming community closer to social media. It was reported that Blizzard's recent live stream session was during the "Overwatch" launching event.
Facebook's global games partnerships director, Leo Olebe said that, "Blizzard has a passionate community of players, and an incredible track record for launching innovative and high-quality gaming experiences," according to Digital Trends.
"Our collaboration on 'Overwatch' demonstrates Facebook's commitment to partnering with AAA game companies, while further empowering Blizzard gamers to connect and share the content they're most passionate about with the friends they play with around the world," as continued.
Their collaboration has increased social media marketing for the upcoming game by releasing Canvas, Carousel ads and even Instagram Marquee in order to reach millions of Facebook users who play games on mobile and consoles.
