The award for best smartphone of 2011 went to Samsung Galaxy S2 early this year at the World Mobile Conference held in Barcelona, in March. However, Samsung isn’t resting on its laurels, and neither are its competitors. The South Korean tech major will be releasing Galaxy S3 sometime later this year but Taiwanese rival HTC is also gearing up to release its super phone One X.

The most anticipated smartphones of 2012 will be, of course, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 and Apple’s new iPhone 5, but this doesn’t mean that other competitors cannot join the market battle. For instance, HTC One X is ready and prepared to compete directly with the South Korean major.

The HTC One X phone packs a 4.7-inch display with 720x1280 pixels resolution. On the contrary, Galaxy S3 is expected to point out only a 4.6-inch display and a similar resolution to the one from HTC’s device. However, more current rumors say that there might be a change in size and resolution of the upcoming Samsung device, as it is more likely to pack a 4.8-inches screen with 1024x600 pixels resolution.

As for storage, One X of HTC will come with 32 GB storage and 1 GB RAM, while the Galaxy S3 is anticipated to sell in two versions: the 16 GB and the 32 GB, each with an improved RAM of 2 GB.

Also, in terms of camera, the HTC device will consist of an 8-megapixels camera, while Samsung’s device is rumored to flash out an outstanding 12-megapixels camera.

If Samsung Galaxy S3 does feature what it is expected to, the Samsung will outcome HTC in the smartphone race.
