Alcatel, at CES 2016, has announced products that are geared to be affordable and functional. One of these products is a new smartphone, the new Pixi 4 smartphone model, which comes either in a 3.5-inch display or in a 4-inch display. The 3.5-inch Pixi 4 has a hardware that can be unlocked, while the 4-inch version offers a slight bump in specifications and hardware. It comes with dual-SIM compatibility.

As to the smartphones' design, they are created to be simplistic and just like your usual basic-looking smartphones. The company thinks being overly stylish sometimes brings complications in the manufacturing process and sometimes costs more than necessary. As for the display, the Pixi 4 3.5 version has an HVGA display with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, while the 4 version has a WVGA display and a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and a 233ppi density.

Pixi 4 3.5 has a 1GHz dual-core processor, while 4 has a slightly bigger one, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. In terms of memory and storage, both model versions have a 512MB RAM and 4GB expandable storage. With regard to the OS, while the 3.5 gets the Android 5.1 Lollipop, the 4 version has the Android 6 Marshmallow. As for the camera feature, the 3.5 sports a 2-megapixel shooter, while Pixi 4 has a 5-megapixel shooter. Both of these are front facing and are both VGA. Pixi 4's camera is also able to capture 1080p videos at 30 fps.

The new Alcatel Pixi 4 smartphones will be first released on emerging markets, then in Latin America, some parts of Europe, the Middle East and then Asia. Pricing as of now is still not fully determined, but it is already expected that the price of the 3.5 version will start from €40 EUR, and obviously the 4 version will start higher than that. It might also depend on 4's SIM configuration.

There are also no release dates announced, and it might be released late first quarter or early next second quarter of this year.
