Intel has for some time joined the foray and has built its own smartphone. The public first encountered the said device during the Intel Developer Forum last year in August. But during that time, the company only had some prototypes that the tech company called the "Project Tango" smartphone.
Fast forward 2016 and finally these prototypes don't seem to be just a prototype for they are now to be made available on the market. And the public, yes the public, can finally get their hands on this new phone's developer kits. This was all revealed during the just concluded CES 2016.
The event revealed a lot more interesting and exciting products and services, but let's talk about Intel's RealSense Smartphone Developer Kit. The smartphone has shown great potential having added new features since its prototypes were first shown to the public.
The newest device from Intel takes pride on its camera. Its camera, which packs RealSense R200, has an accelerometer and gyroscope combo. Intel has marketed its camera by releasing a statement that says its Intel RealSense device developer kit features advanced 3D vision capabilities that is made possible by integrating the Intel RealSense camera ZR300.
The said developer kit will be running on an Intel Atom x7-Z8700 Cherry Trail processor and supports both Intel's RealSense Camera and Google Project Tango developer ecosystems. Aside from these specifications, the latest 6-inch device of Intel is said to have a dimension of 83.9 x 164.8 x 8.9 mm. It has a QHD display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
The camera it sports is a 2-megapixel secondary front shooter and an 8-megapixel primary rear shooter. The Intel RealSense smartphone also has an internal storage of 64GB and a RAM of 2GB. It supports Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G in terms of connectivity. It will be running Android as its operating system.
Intel RealSense smartphone will also have an adjustable docking device with HDMI out and a USB 3.0. It is also cleared by the FCC regulations. So far, Intel's smartphone is now open for reservations or preorders at its official website and is priced at $399 USD. It is expected to ship within the first quarter of 2016.
