Samsung has a great reputation worldwide due to its high-quality products, reasonable pricing and a dedication to constantly develop better consumer products to meet the needs of the consumer and keep up with the competitive market.
The new Samsung Galaxy Beam is the company’s first device that actually combines an Android phone with a pico projector, embedded into its top side. Although it is a mid-range device, this July it should reach UK with a price tag of £385, i.e. about $600. As the initial launch will leave it unlocked, a few carriers should allow subsidized purchases.
Compared to an actual projector, the Galaxy Beam lamp is not very powerful, as it has only 15 lumens of brightness. The advantage compared to a normal projector, however, is that this one is built into the smarpthone, so one can use it anywhere, anytime. It is designed to last for up to 20,000 hours, therefore it should work fine for about 2.3 years, if not used continuously.
The Samsung Galaxy Beam features a 4-inch TFT display, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1GHz dual-core processor and it will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It may not compare to the Galaxy S2 in terms of performance, but the projector certainly makes it stand out of the crowd.
Moreover, Samsung also added a 2000mAh battery to the device in order to aid the extreme battery consumption. The extra battery aid should be enough to allow a short projection and last you through the day.
