Samsung India Director for Mobile Business, Manu Sharma, was very proud of the new feature included in the J2. The UDS mode, which allows the user to control their data usage, will also free up to 11 percent of RAM usage and increase the handset's stand-by time. Sharma describes this new feature as an "Indian-centric innovation", designed with the local market's needs in mind. The UDS saves data by blocking apps from going online and claims to save up to 50% on your usage.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 will be priced at around 8,490 rupees, according to a report by IBTimes. There are no indications that this phone will be available in other countries, apart from India. The appeal of the J series is its ability to support 4G, and other bands available in India, that most entry-level smartphones lack.
Building wallet-friendly smartphones that are packed with features are a norm in India nowadays, with competition coming from Chinese manufacturers like Xioami and other smartphone manufacturers who have made India its production hub. Xioami and Foxconn has recently made India its hub and Xiaomi wasted no time to produce smartphones exclusive for the country. Huawei is also making plans to make India-only phones in the future. Just how well will the Samsung Galaxy J2 hold up to the competition?
