Research firm TrendForce reported on July 20, Monday, that Samsung surpassed Apple in dominating the global market share for the second quarter of the year. The report stated that the South Korea-based technology company reached almost 27 percent of the total number of smartphone shipments, which is almost the same as the first quarter figures.

According to Tech Radar, if the percentile will be converted into a number of sales, it would mean that within three months, Samsung sold more than 45 million smartphones compared to the global sales of 304 million.

On the other hand, Apple only reached a little more than 16 percent in market share. However, TrendForce praised Apple's trend where the company was able to have an incredible strong shipment even during off-peak season. The research firm also noted that the common reason for the low iPhone sales is the excitement of the avid users to check out the latest models.

Considering that Apple is set to launch the new iPhone products this September, the trend might happen again. So far, there is no sign that this is going to be the case for this year. According to CNET, TrendForce is expecting otherwise. The firm said it is expecting Apple's total shipments in 2015 to increase by 15 percent year-on-year.

On the contrary, the research firm is not confident, whether Samsung will continue its domination for the remaining quarters of the year. Instead, TrendForce estimated that China-based sellers, especially Huawei, might steal the low to medium range market. It expects the South Korea-based company to have lower shipments this year of around 45 million units.

Nevertheless, TrendForce is positive that Samsung might be able to "reverse its fortune" if the company can successfully launch its Galaxy Note 5 this August. In order to do this, the company must become effective and convincing in releasing its new product. It must attract consumers with the new phablet's latest specifications and features. Once Samsung becomes successful in its latest endeavors then there is a high possibility that it can prevent the negative growth in its shipment for 2015.

Meanwhile, in China, neither Samsung nor Apple topped the Chinese market. Huawei proved that it can compete with the top smartphone companies as it owned more than 18 percent of the country's market share.

TrendForce further forecasted that Huawei will be the first to reach the 100-million mark in smartphone shipments for 2015 and the possible year-on-year growth will reach almost 40 percent by the end of the year.
